Unique subscription-based model to revolutionise uptake of mass market mobile data services
LONDON, 03 February 2010 - Nimbuzz (www.nimbuzz.com), the multi award-winning next generation mobile messaging service, has today announced a unique partnership with Telkomsel, Indonesia's largest mobile operator, that sees Nimbuzz delivered to more than 82 million Telkomsel subscribers via a radical new mobile data subscription plan.
The partnership is Nimbuzz' first as part of a monetizable program, with Telkomsel using the added value offered by the Nimbuzz application to generate revenue via a short code subscription service. It forms a core part of Telkomsel's newly-formed Social Networking Portal, which will make Nimbuzz available free to subscribers as part of a special flat rate data package.
With subscribers able to enjoy unlimited use of the Nimbuzz application, the partnership is aimed at a mass market audience, and is seen as a game-changing example of how Nimbuzz' 'always on' service supports operators in accelerating the take-up and consumption of mobile data services.
Evert-Jaap Lugt, founder and CEO of Nimbuzz says: "We are delighted to work with Telkomsel on this unique and significant project. It's a clear indicator of the value Nimbuzz can provide to both an operator and the end user, and we look forward to welcoming Telkomsel subscribers to the Nimbuzz community, which currently grows by a new user every 3 seconds."
Jajang Munajat, GM VAS Telkomsel says: "Nimbuzz is the perfect application for the mobile services that our customers demand, especially our youth customers. The launch of Nimbuzz services within Telkomsel Social Networking Services, allows us to address youth segment better both for customer loyalty as well as for customers acquisition. We are proud to be the first to deliver the fruits of this groundbreaking partnership offering to our vast subscriber base."
